Each wave of blue ribbon,
Washes upon the sand,
Memories clouding my mind, and
Offering as much solace as red clay,
From rusted rocks in mud.
A fossil from the past, best forgotten.
I turned my back on the deep dark wood,
In search of the blazing sun.
Grassland was all I found,
Drenched in my tears.
Though I’m thankful for the sound,
Of breaking waves.
I’m grateful for the colour,
Of sun rises.
I hope I live to see another.

Disorganised, yet appropriate.
Painting lines on lines,
Masking feelings with colours,
Burying lost strokes.
With a cold, stormy pallet.
Moody skies console,
Beautiful blue smudged with grey.

A heavy heart plated with lead.
When bad days turn to lousy weeks.
When sleeves wipe across sodden cheeks,
You don’t know how to help, instead,
Belittle me to get ahead.
You look down at me, this is true.
Uncultivated fields grew,
The hierarchy’s nourishment.
With too little encouragement,
The days are tough to saunter through.

As we approach the end,
We become you and I.
We stood together once, but now,
You go your way, I’ll go mine.
I can’t look forwards,
Whereas you don’t look back.
You impulsively march onwards,
While I still wonder what to pack.
With steep mountains ahead,
I recoil, so afraid.
No sight of you in the distance,
I wish you could have stayed.
I need to be held tighter,
For longer, forever.
Even so, I wish you well,
With your courageous endeavour.
I still feel left behind,
Alone, in apprehension.
Until I find my own helm,
I’ll wade through this suspension.
Anxious thoughts tickle you into a state of paralysis. Remind yourself to take only small steps forwards.
Listening to the sound of rain
Busy minds tune into the lull.
A provoked tranquility:
Calm enough to ease,
Loud enough to dispel
Wish them farewell.
A raindrop is silent,
Until it splashes.
Like his internal plight,
Before he turns to ashes.

Born from negative intent.
Should have thought harder.

You’re two-faced, like coins.
No change? I want a refund.
Not worth your price tag.

A teddy bear’s view,
From the shelf above the bed,
Is of dusty frames,
And other idle trinkets.
Undisturbed, estranged, and still.

When a hardship comes sailing in,
Please allow my mind to depart.
Watch my warriors guard my heart,
Sometimes I feel like staying in,
So please refrain from breaking in.
I ask you to forgive my void,
Accept, or leave me paranoid.
Let me cry when nothing makes sense,
Leave when my feeble eyes condense.
Pity’s worthless when I’m destroyed.

Neglected, no chance to attach,
A childhood gone rotten.
As resilient as a baby seal.
A beautiful girl, forgotten.
Her world is backwards,
With nowhere to stay.
It has an unwelcome smell,
No downpour could wash away.
Yet it rains and rains,
Until she is wet, with a chill.
Like when the crickets stridulate,
Her cries are shrill.
The downfall is that she will grow,
Knowing how to hurt you.
Her expressions will be informal,
And she will hold no virtue.
